Environmental Engineer (PE) / Project Manager (PM)

Overview:

This person will manage environmental projects. The candidate must have an extensive site characterization assessment and remediation background. This is an exciting and challenging position that requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills and a highly organized and responsive candidate, capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities while building positive client relationships.

The ideal candidate must be able to work independently doer-seller as an integral team member, using knowledge of industry and/or professional guidelines and protocols to accomplish goals and objectives and solve problems of diverse scope.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee environmental site assessments, soil, soil gas, and groundwater assessments, feasibility studies, remedial action plans, remediation system design/operation, construction, multi-media compliance efforts, and other supporting technical studies
  • Oversee large programs and multiple projects simultaneously within scope, schedule and ensure quality is achieved on project deliverables
  • Advanced technical writer/detailed reviewer of data/reports
  • Experience/working-knowledge with EGLE, USEPA as well as local municipal governments
  • High level of competency in environmental consulting – including financial management, client management, and risk management

This leadership position requires an excellent attitude and an ability to communicate and effectively manage a talented bench of internal and external team members/staff.

Base Requirements:

  • Bachelor's (MS desirable) degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field required
  • Professional licensure (PE)
  • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in environmental consulting, in-depth knowledge of Michigan regulations, and the ability to provide high-end technical advisory support
  • 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training completion required
  • History of development of new and existing clients

This position is performed in an office and field environment.

  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs
  • Up to 50% of time may be dedicated to field activities in varying environmental conditions including inclement weather
  • Some night and weekend work may occur
  • Attend marketing events and functions as needed
  • Ability to effectively mentor junior level staff with regard to both technical direction and professional development
  • Ensuring projects are completed within scope, schedule, and budget
  • Ensure client satisfaction on every project
